Happy holidays

Hello lovelies!  I hope you all are enjoying the holiday season and eating plenty of holiday sweets.  So far, I've been having a wonderful vacation full of family and friends.  It is good to be home and with those that I love.  I may not have gotten to do my normal traditions, but we definitely made the best of things.  Highlights include Christmas night at my brother and his wife's, spoons with my cousins, marshmellow milkshakes at my favorite ice cream shop with my little brothers, and great conversations with love ones.  Lucky for me, my vacation is hardly over.

What holiday adventures have you had this year?

A yule moodboard

holiday
It is undeniably the holiday season!  I love celebrating Christmas and there are certain things I can't go without.  I designed this moodboard to cover the bases.  To me, Christmas is about the little things.  From my little brothers still getting excited first thing on Christmas morning, to getting to see all my siblings on the same day, to seeing my closest friends that I grew up with.  Sadly, this year I won't be home until Christmas night because I am flying all day.  One of my brothers is deployed so he and his wife won't be coming, and one of my best friends {see here} is leaving before I'll get into town.
This year, I'll just have to make some new traditions.

What traditions do you have for the winter holidays?

Sartorial inspiration

These effortlessly chic ladies caught my fancy.  I adore their million mile long legs, refined yet edgy style, and they way they all seem to glow!  Lately, I've been less than inspired by my own closet, so I turned to Stockholm Street Style to give me a spark.  What's inspiring you lately?

Mixing prints

I tend to lean more towards simple pieces than patterned; however I love the texture of layering prints.  This is one of my favorite ways to spice up my work wardrobe when my closet looks less than inspiring.
{Button up:  Express; Sweater:  F21; Skirt and Shoes:  Thrifted; Tights:  Ann Klein}

You can't really tell from these pictures, but the button up has blue pin stripes and goes nicely with the red and brown argyle.  This week has been incredibly busy and I want to look business {for the office}, but not put a great deal of time into it {so I have time to study}.  I am learning the meaning behind "working for the weekend"!  Lucky for me, I've got plans for a couple holiday parties and some major relaxation after a very long semester.

By the way, I am asking for a mini tripod for Christmas!  Maybe you'll get better pictures soon!

Weekend brunch

On Saturday, a good friend and I went to a local breakfast hot spot for a late breakfast.  Delicious food,  great conversation, and getting in the holiday spirit; what more could I have asked for?  It was a perfect way to end an intense week.
{Aebelskivers filled with huckleberries}
{We left stuffed!}
{Happily eating an aebelskiver with fresh whipped sweet cream}

While the restaurant itself looks a bit shabby, it is clear that they put all of their efforts into their food!  I can't wait to go again.

What is your favorite diamond in the rough restaurant?

Studious plaid

First, I am deeply sorry for yet another outfit post taking place in the same boring location!  I am in serious need of two things:  longer hours of daylight and a person to take photos for me {or a tripod}!
Second, Monday is finals week.  Not only have things been busy with work, but my own academic endeavors {see here} have been tasking on me.  I've been drawn to low key, comfortable basics that need little fuss while going from work to class to study to the repeat.
{Plaid shirt:  Gifted; Tank:  H&M; Leggings:  unknown; Shoes:  Kelsi Dagger; Bag:  The Limited}
I've been living in layers and leggings! It is like being in pajamas all day.
I got these wedges in September and have barely had the occasion to wear them!  They remind me of the Rag&Bone wedges.  I'm working on making the occasion for my favorites that have been neglected in my closet.

Me and every other blogger

If you having been reading fashion blogs lately, then you have also seen the explosion of love from the blogging community for the YSL Arty ring.  Let's be honest, this is clearly only something I could covet.  I'm not even a jewelry person for the most part.  But let's dream anyway.

By the way, I have added a Blog Roll page.  I've linked some of my daily reads.  It is just a scratch list for now, I'm sure I'll be adding more soon.  What are some of your favorite blogs?

Cold weather must haves

It is very much winter here.  With the temps dipping below freezing, I've been surrounding myself with my must haves.
*Cozy socks
*Candy canes and cocoa
*Thick scarves
*Life saving lip balm
*Warm coats
*And a bit of glam
{Okay, my real closet looks nothing like this...}

All images are from weheartit.

What is on your must haves list?

Feeling like a vintage socialite

Hello lovelies!  Some of you know of my vintage obsession.
I've been lucky enough to acquire a few vintage pieces over time.  This particular black beauty must have been a very special party dress for someone once upon a time.  I've given it refuge in my closet.  While I haven't had the occasion to wear it out, you can be rest assured that I am keeping my eye open for just the opportunity.  I love the dramatic asymmetric volume.

Where do you think I should wear this ruffly number?

Recycled wool

Hello lovelies!  We have had some crazy weather.  The outfit pictures I am posting today were taken BEFORE all the snow, because these boots are clearly inappropriate for the conditions.  You've seen this dress before.. I couldn't help it, the dress is just so comfortable!
{Boots fashioned over the knee}
{Dress:  Express {last seen here}; Scarf:  Gucci {last seen here}; Clutch:  The Limited; Tights:  Ann Klein; OTK boots:  Colin Stuart}
{Boots slouched down below the knee}
I have only worn these boots once before, but have owned them forever!  First, I am not a fan of the pointy toe.  I am more of an almond toe gal.  Second, I don't mind flirting with risqué necessarily; however the over the knee boots aren't exactly the most flattering on me.  Trust me, I have a drawer full of OTK socks I bought to hop on the adorable bandwagon only to discover that they accentuate the least flattering part of my leg.  Delightful.  I decided using brown tights and an understated outfit would be the way to go with these boots.  I'd really like to get more use out of them.

What are your seldom seen items?
