Texturized; a product review and Remix wrap up

Hello lovelies!  I haven't done a product review for a while, so I decided to share with you the experience I have had with Aveda's Pure Abundance Hair Potion.  Yes, that is quite the name.  You can get this from your local Aveda location or on line.  When I had my hair done a few weeks ago, the stylist used it on my crown's roots.  The next day I returned to get it.
{via}
What it is:  It is a powder hair texturizer that turns to a liquid when it makes contact with the heat of your skin.  It helps to give a second day hair feel.  It claims to thicken hair by 17% {however that is calculated..}.
The pros:  It is easily applied by lightly squeezing the bottle at the section of hair you want to add volume or texture to.  The powder comes out green, but quickly turns clear as the powder turns to a liquid.  When it is rubbed into the roots, it helps add volume to make my misshapen head look round like everyone elses'.  What I really like about it is that when my hair has gone flat around midafternoon, I just rub with my fingers and it regains the morning volume.  It has this neat cooling sensation when applied.

The cons:  If the stylist had not shown me out to use it, I would have messed it up royally!  This is not a product you want close to your face.  It can also be messy.  If you get it on your fingers, the heat from your skin melts the powder and then you have second day skin.  Also, if you over apply, your hair just looks dirty.  I also fear storage conditions.  If you allow the bottle to be in a warm location the powder will melt.  You can't store it in the fridge because it reacts to extreme temps.  While travelling, I worry about it.

The overall:  I really like this product.  It adds the boost and texture that my roots can lack.  Because I have practiced using it, I don't have many of the problems mentioned in the cons section.  It seems to last a long time, so I wouldn't mind buying it again.  I like it much more than the messy paste texturizers I've used in the past.  If you are someone who has trouble with volume, this could be a great buy for you.  It also is an Aveda product so you can trust the ingredients and they stand behind their products.

Remix Wrap Up:
How many of you are familiar with Closet Fashionista?  Many I'm sure, as her delightful blog is both inspiring and fun.  She submitted a remix look of this flirty to Chictopia's TeenVogue contest.  Feel free to visit her blog and vote for her look!
Becca at Free Honey showed that a long flowy skirt can double for work and play.  Free Honey is authored by two sassy ladies using their powers for the good of fashion.
Do you remember my magic skirt post from last week?  Well, the sweet and wise Carrie of This Free Bird has dedicated about post to her convertible attired and even included links so you can find your very own.

Happy Friday!

Lisa, thanks so much for featuring my remix! I'm thrilled to be in the comapny of some other awesome bloggers in this post.

As for the texturizer, holy moly what a difference!! I have a serious problem with flat hair, and I'll have to give this a try. One question, how is your hair otherwise - mine is on the thinner side so sometimes product can overwhelm my hair? Do you think this would work on me - or would mine just go straight to looking dirty and greasy?

Another recommendation(if you don't mind spending a little extra $$), try Oribe gel serum. You put it in before you blowdry and the shine and volume you get is amazing!

Wow! The texturizer really does give your hair a lot of oomph! But when it comes to hair products, my hair can get really greasy quickly, so I tend to stay away in general. But I would love that volume!

sounds like an interesting product. does it strangthen the hair as well? I've been looking for a hair product that will reduce the brittleness of my hair, been dying it too much -_-

ohh and thanks for the Lindsey link haha, I was going to blog about it but I would just be so pissed! I mean, 2 DUIs, countless cases of finding illegal substance on her and she only gets 90 days in jail?! if it was any one of us we'd be someone's b*tch in jail for at least a few years! and she says she doesn't get the celebrity treatment!

Your hair looks shiny and fabulous so I'm tempted to dash out for this! Thing is, I never got the knack for any kind of hair product but perhaps its time to give it another go.

I'm terrible with hair products -- I try top keep it simple because I tend to mess up when using real products, haha. You look fabulous, though!

Wow, that stuff works great! I'm always trying to get volume! On the down side, I'm not good with hair. (I may be just lazy.) I'd need a lesson before I used it!

Love the remixes!
